New design, new touch and feel for HKUL Web Pages

David Palmer

During the last several years, we have added several new databases, such as those to our HKUL Digital Initiatives page, and several new online services, such as the booking service for workstations in the KNC (Knowledge Navigation Centre). This new content and services have increased the usage of our Web pages steadily in recent years. In order to makes these pages even more useful, and to bring a consistent method of navigation through all of them, we began a project last summer for their redesign. We out-sourced the design of 80 key pages to a vendor, who completed this work in October. Our in-house staff are now busily rendering the remaining 400 pages in these new designs. We expect that these renovated pages will be placed into production in mid-January 2002.

HKUL staff in Reference and Systems Department have worked very hard on this project. Much coordination was needed with every part of the Libraries in order to produce pages that agreed in content and style, one with another.
