The University of Hong Kong, established in 1911, is the oldest tertiary education institution in Hong Kong. It has grown steadily through the years and now comprises ten faculties - Architecture, Arts, Business and Economics, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Science and Social Sciences; each providing teaching and supervision of research students. In 1999/2000, the student population is over 17,000, including 6,378 postgraduate students.
